Amatsu Maps : Post-Apocalyptic Battlemaps for Roll20, Foundry VTT and RPGs

Amatsu Maps creates post-apocalyptic battlemaps for tabletop roleplaying games and virtual tabletops such as Roll20, Foundry VTT and other VTT platforms. These RPG battle maps are designed for game masters who want to bring ruined cities, wastelands, abandoned facilities, underground shelters and dangerous survival encounters to life. Whether you are running a post-apocalyptic campaign, a modern survival RPG, a sci-fi wasteland adventure or a game inspired by ruined worlds and collapsed civilizations, Amatsu Maps gives you ready-to-use visual environments for your sessions.

By becoming a Wastelander on the Amatsu Maps Patreon, you can access the private map library and download post-apocalyptic RPG maps for your games.

Post-Apocalyptic Battle Maps for Immersive RPG Sessions

A good battlemap is more than just a background image. It helps players understand the scene, visualize the danger and immediately feel the atmosphere of the adventure. Instead of describing every wall, vehicle, corridor, barricade or ruined building in detail, you can place your players directly inside the location. A battle map makes ambushes, exploration, tactical movement and cinematic moments much easier to run.

Amatsu Maps focuses on environments such as:

  • ruined urban areas;
  • abandoned roads and tunnels;
  • industrial wastelands;
  • shelters and underground facilities;
  • post-apocalyptic settlements;
  • dangerous encounter maps;
  • desert, scrap and survival locations.

These maps can be used for many different RPG systems, from modern and post-apocalyptic games to fantasy, sci-fi or survival campaigns.

Roll20 Battle Maps, Foundry VTT Maps and Gridless Versions

The Amatsu Maps collection includes Roll20 battle maps and VTT-friendly maps that can be used on virtual tabletops. Many maps are available in different versions depending on how you run your games.

You may find:

  • gridded battlemaps for tactical movement;
  • gridless battlemaps for more flexible play;
  • high-resolution versions;
  • post-apocalyptic encounter maps;
  • printable battle mats;
  • digital maps for online RPG sessions.

Grid versions are useful when your RPG system relies on precise movement, distances and combat placement. Gridless maps are ideal for more cinematic play, for platforms like Roll20 or Foundry VTT, or for game masters who prefer to add their own grid directly inside the VTT.

Most of my battlemaps are also on Roll20 ☝️.

Why Use Amatsu Maps in Your RPG Campaign?

Amatsu Maps was created by a game master who needed better visual tools for post-apocalyptic RPG sessions. The goal is to provide maps that are practical, atmospheric and easy to use during play.

Each battlemap is designed to help you:

  • save preparation time;
  • improve player immersion;
  • create memorable encounters;
  • support tactical combat;
  • make locations easier to understand;
  • inspire new story ideas.

Whether your players are exploring a ruined metro station, crossing a hostile wasteland, searching an abandoned junkyard or entering a forgotten bunker, a detailed battlemap can instantly give the scene more weight.

Post-Apocalyptic Battle Mats and Printable Maps

Some Amatsu Maps battlemaps are also available as printable battle mats. The Amatsu Maps Season One compilation brings together 20 post-apocalyptic battle mats in a physical booklet, designed for tabletop sessions with miniatures. These printed maps are ideal if you want to use post-apocalyptic locations directly at the table instead of playing only on a virtual tabletop.
